StoryBound ("we", "our", or "the app") is a tool that converts your social media posts into formatted PDF books. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

1. Information We Access

When you use StoryBound with Facebook, the app accesses the following data through the Facebook Graph API with your explicit permission:

• Your posts — text content, timestamps, and visibility status
• Your photos — images attached to your posts

When you use StoryBound with Substack, the app accesses publicly available post content from the publication URL you provide.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to generate a PDF book on your local device. Specifically:

• Posts and images are downloaded temporarily to your computer
• The app renders them into a formatted PDF file
• Temporary files are automatically cleaned up after generation

3. Data Storage and Retention

• No server-side storage. StoryBound runs entirely on your local device. We do not operate servers that store your content.
• Temporary files (downloaded images) are stored in your system's temporary directory during PDF generation and are automatically deleted when the process completes.
• Authentication tokens are stored locally on your device using your system's secure credential storage (keyring) or a local configuration file.
• Generated PDFs are saved to the file path you specify and remain under your control.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to any third party. Your content is never sent to our servers or any external service beyond the platform APIs you authorize (Facebook, Substack).

5. Data Not Used for Advertising

Your data is never used for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any purpose other than generating your PDF book.

6. Your Rights

• You can revoke the app's access to your Facebook data at any time through your Facebook App Settings.
• You can delete your locally stored authentication token by running storybound --logout.
• You can delete any generated PDF files at any time.

7. Children's Privacy

StoryBound is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
